Our Story
Rewards Rookie was founded in 2026 by Brandon and Myles with a simple belief: incredible travel shouldn't be reserved for people with unlimited budgets or unlimited free time. We started Rewards Rookie to help others travel more often, or far more comfortably, by bringing clarity and structure to the world of credit card applications, points, and miles.
Like many of our users, we didn't begin as experts. We were regular travelers who wanted to see more of the world without overspending. Over time, through careful planning, disciplined application strategies, and thoughtful redemptions, we discovered just how powerful airline, hotel, and credit card rewards could be. Those rewards have since enabled us to travel to all six inhabited continents for a fraction of the retail cost, and in many cases, in experiences we never thought would be within reach.
Rewards Rookie exists to make that process simpler, safer, and more transparent for others who want to do the same.
Myles
Myles was introduced to the world of points and miles in 2014, shortly after graduating college. Wanting to take a trip to New York City with his girlfriend but lacking the budget to do so, he began exploring alternatives and stumbled upon the concept of credit card sign-up bonuses. That initial curiosity then turned into a long-term passion after realizing the potential those points and miles had to make traveling more affordable.
Since then, Myles and his wife have used rewards strategically to support their goal of seeing the world without sacrificing financial responsibility. As of the end of 2025, they have earned more than 8.2 million miles and points across 20 different rewards programs.
Those points have unlocked once-in-a-lifetime experiences, including a pre-pandemic honeymoon featuring Etihad's First Class Apartments to the Maldives (booked for just 115,000 American Airlines miles per person each way) and a five-night stay at the St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort for 240,000 Marriott Bonvoy points. More recently, they checked off a bucket-list trip to Machu Picchu during peak season, flying LATAM Business Class to Lima for only 35,000 Alaska Mileage Plan miles per person each way.
Closer to home, Myles relies heavily on the Southwest Companion Pass, which he has held continuously since 2015 through strategically timed sign-up bonuses, to reduce the cost of domestic travel when visiting family and friends across the country.
Brandon
Brandon has been immersed in the points and miles hobby since 2016, channeling a natural aptitude for optimization into more than 3 million lifetime points earned. His approach combines big-picture strategy with meticulous attention to detail, allowing him to consistently extract maximum value from rewards programs.
Those points have translated into standout experiences such as crossing Australia in Qantas Business Class and multiple trips to Munich for Oktoberfest in First Class, all without paying cash for airfare. Brandon also takes pride in one of his personal rules: when he's traveling, he doesn't pay for hotels, ensuring even high-end stays come with a $0 nightly rate.
Beyond luxury travel, Brandon values how points make everyday travel more accessible. By mastering the complexities of regional routes and high-cost airports, he's able to visit family across the country more frequently. This demonstrates that points and miles aren't just about aspirational trips, but about staying connected to what matters most.
Why Rewards Rookie
We built Rewards Rookie for people who want a smarter, more organized way to pursue points and miles, whether that means flying in premium cabins, staying at world-class resorts, or simply making travel more affordable and stress-free. We've made the mistakes, learned the rules, and refined the strategies firsthand, and we're excited to help others do the same with confidence.
Travel doesn't have to be out of reach. With the right plan, it can be closer than you think.
